At least 150 people have died in flash floods across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. Witnessing one of the wettest July in 40 years, the low lying parts of Delhi-NCR is submerged in water. Families living on the banks of Yamuna river have been displaced and are forced to live on the pavements.

How We Will Use Your Donation

  • Provide Safe and Clean Water: Oxfam India will provide safe and clean drinking water for the communities and install flood-resilient (raised) tube wells for communities to use during floods as well as throughout the year.
  • Provide Temporary Shelter Material: Oxfam India will provide shelter kit—tarpaulin, ground sheet and mosquito nets—to families who have lost their homes and are stranded. Hygiene and Dignity Kit will also be distributed among affected communities.
  • Conduct Restoration and Repair: Oxfam India will restore water points that were destroyed or damaged during floods through chlorination and minor repairs. Flood-affected villages/areas will also be cleaned.
  • Install Temporary Toilets: Oxfam India will install temporary toilets at relief camps and in flood-affected communities.
  • Provide Emergency Food Security and Livelihood Measures: To help communities get back on their feet, Oxfam India will provide Unconditional Cash Transfers (UCT), dry food kit or cooked food or vouchers for purchase of food and other essentials for survival during disaster and recovery.
